At La Biosthétique Australia, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Carbon Neutral Salon Program for our Australian and New Zealand partner salons. We are the first Australian hair and beauty brand that facilitates it’s salon partners to become 100% Carbon Neutral through our partnership with ClimatePartner.With many hairdressing entrepreneurs striving to ensure their work is environmentally-friendly and climate respectful, our Carbon Neutral Salon initiative will help our partner salons take the additional step towards total carbon neutrality. We believe this will set new ecological standards within the hair and beauty industry.
What is the Carbon Neutral Salon Program and what can I expect when I join?
Our Carbon Neutral Salon Program is a rewarding initiative to help our salon partners become 100% carbon neutral, by offsetting their carbon emissions with sustainable projects through our partnership with ClimatePartner. This initiative is close to our hearts at La Biosthétique Australia, since being environmentally conscious is one of the founding roots of our company. It is our ongoing mission to protect, respect and save our planet and natural resources for generations to come. When you join our carbon neutral program, our team will assist with calculating your salon’s carbon footprint and generate your annual carbon offset fee. This fee will be put solely towards the running costs of climate sustainable projects. Also, you will receive an exclusive merchandise kit and ClimatePartner certificate so your salon will be carbon neutral ready!Did you know?

How is the Salon Carbon Footprint calculated?
The ‘ecological footprint’ is a well-known method used to measure the demand on and supply of nature. Essentially, it portrays the amount of greenhouse emissions and tracks the usage of productive environmental areas. All greenhouse emissions are converted into carbon dioxide equivalent values then, conveyed as one single value. As this process can be time-consuming and requires significant information from salons, we have simplified this process with the help of ClimatePartner.To calculate the salon’s carbon footprint, our salon partners will need to disclose the salon area in square-feet, total number of staff members and whether or not your salon is currently operating with renewable energy. The salon footprint is then calculated using a formula from participating global salons.
How much of my offset fee will be used and what is it used for?
Once your salon’s carbon footprint is calculated by ClimatePartner, an annual fee will be generated. This fee is used to offset your entire salon’s carbon emissions and will contribute towards the running costs of our sustainable project, Madres de Dios Forest Protection Project. You can see below for the breakdown of the categories your payment will be put towards:- 30% is used for monitoring and conservation of the Amazon rainforest.
- 28% is designated for social projects, such as supporting the region and indigenous tribes.
- 25% is used to preserve biodiversity in the Amazon region including endangered animal and plant species.

MADRE DE DIOS FOREST PROTECTION PROJECT
Together with ClimatePartner, we are supporting carbon offset projects such as the Madres de Dios Forest Protection Project, in Peru. This project protects over 100,000 hectares of the Amazon rainforest, renowned as one of the largest areas with the highest biodiversity in the world, from massive deforestation. Furthermore, it provides protection for endangered animals and plant species along with supporting Indigenous tribes and economic alternatives to deforestation. Madre de Dios forest protection project is VCS and CCBS Gold Level certified.
